Djuanda University Conducts International Community Service (ICS) with the Islamic Religious Council of Yala Region, Thailand

Yala, Thailand (July 16, 2025) – As part of its commitment to enhancing international cooperation and sharing knowledge in the fields of academia and community development, Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA), through its Master’s Program in Public Administration (MAP) at the Graduate School and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), conducted an International Community Service (ICS) activity with the Islamic Religious Council of Yala Province, Thailand.

This event directly involved faculty and students from the MAP and FISIP programs at UNIDA, with the goal of strengthening institutional ties and enhancing academic knowledge at the international level. Dr. Rusliandy, S.STP., M.Si., as the main speaker in this event, presented important insights on the collaboration between government, the role of communities, and strategic issues in the development of halal products and community-based regional development.

In his presentation, Dr. Rusliandy emphasized the importance of halal certification as an essential component in protecting the rights of Muslim consumers, as well as the need for active participation from communities and religious institutions in supporting regional development through the enhancement of education and sustainable halal economic development.

Following the presentation, the event continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Graduate School and FISIP of Universitas Djuanda and the Islamic Religious Council of Yala Province, Thailand. The signing aimed to create a mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, covering the exchange of academic staff and students, joint research, and other academic activities that could strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.

The MoA was signed by Prof. Dr. Hj. Endeh Suhartini, SH., MH, the Director of the Graduate School at UNIDA, Dr. Rita Rahmawati, Drs., M.Si, the Dean of FISIP at Universitas Djuanda, and Tuan Abdulbasit Chema, the President of the Islamic Religious Council of Yala. This agreement will be in effect for the next five years, with the expectation that both institutions will continue to improve academic collaboration and expand the benefits for the people of both countries, especially Indonesia and Thailand.

Through this ICS activity, Universitas Djuanda remains committed to further developing its international network while also supporting regional development and enhancing the role of universities in the global arena.
