The Communication Science Student Association (HIMAKOM) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA), visited Bandung Creative Hub as part of its Communication Insight Visit Career (CIVIC) program on Wednesday (July 1, 2026). The visit served as a field-learning activity designed to introduce students to the creative industry ecosystem while providing firsthand exposure to facilities that support the creativity and innovation of young people.
Anisa Cikal Febrianti, S.I.Kom., M.A.P., Secretary of the Communication Science Study Program at FISIP UNIDA, emphasized that learning experiences beyond the classroom play an essential role in preparing students for the professional world.
"For us in higher education, activities like this are extremely valuable. Students should not only learn in classrooms but also engage with the real world, understand industry challenges, and develop their creativity and collaborative skills," she said.
The delegation was welcomed by Luki Darmawan, Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) and Manager of Bandung Creative Hub. He expressed his hope that the visit would broaden students' understanding of the creative processes that have flourished in the City of Bandung.
"We hope this visit provides students with valuable insights, particularly into the creative processes that continue to grow in Bandung," he said.
During the visit, students attended a presentation explaining the role of Bandung Creative Hub in supporting creative communities and the various facilities available for creative industry practitioners. The program continued with a building tour, allowing participants to explore the workspaces, collaborative areas, and innovation facilities that serve as a hub for creative activities.
Also accompanying the students was Acep Muhamad Rusman, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., lecturer and Head of the Public Relations, Protocol, and Marketing Bureau of UNIDA. He expressed his hope that similar initiatives would strengthen collaboration between universities and stakeholders in the creative economy sector.
"We hope this activity becomes a platform for exchanging ideas, expanding professional networks, and fostering collaborations that contribute to the development of culture, tourism, and the creative economy, particularly in Bandung and West Java," he said.
One of the participants, Reva Aulia Putri, a 2025 Communication Science student at FISIP UNIDA, shared that the visit provided meaningful new experiences. According to her, Bandung Creative Hub offered valuable insights into the growth of the creative industry while introducing students to various creative communities.
"It was a really exciting experience because we had the opportunity to interact with friends with disabilities at Creative Hub. We also visited a place that empowers young people to grow, create, and express their creativity," she said.
Through the CIVIC program, HIMAKOM FISIP UNIDA seeks to provide experiential learning opportunities that bridge classroom theories with real-world practice. The program is expected to broaden students' perspectives, inspire innovative ideas, and strengthen their readiness to face the evolving creative industry in the future.
