The Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA), organized a Practitioners Teaching activity for the Graphic Communication Design course on Thursday, January 15, 2026, held at Room D.205, FISIP UNIDA. The activity was attended by seventh-semester students of the 2022 cohort and featured Muhammad Romdhoni, S.I.Kom., as the guest speaker. He is an alumnus of the Communication Science Study Program of FISIP UNIDA and a professional practitioner in the fields of graphic design and visual communication.
The lecturer in charge of the Graphic Communication Design course, Dr. Ali Alamsyah Kusumadinata, S.P., M.Si., who on this occasion was represented by Acep Muhamad Rusman, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., stated that the Practitioners Teaching program aims to provide applied insights to strengthen students’ understanding of the implementation of graphic communication design in professional and creative industry contexts.
“Students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the creative process, ranging from visual communication strategies, application and implementation through design software, to strengthening their analytical and technical skills as preparation for entering the creative industry,” he said.
On the same occasion, representing the Head of the Communication Science Study Program, Koesworo Setiawan, S.Sos., M.I.K., emphasized the importance of practitioner involvement as an effort to enrich students’ learning experiences so they align with industry developments.
“My hope is that this activity will provide long-term benefits for students, particularly in mastering visual communication and graphic design skills that are required in the creative industry,” he stated.
Meanwhile, in his presentation, Muhammad Romdhoni, S.I.Kom., explained an overview of the competencies required in the fields of graphic design and visual communication, especially those relevant to the current needs of the creative industry.
In addition to the material presentation, students were also invited to examine several case studies and participate in practical sessions designed to train technical skills and visual sensitivity in producing communicative design works that meet client and market needs.
