Last Updated: 4 months ago

Kuala Lumpur, January 31, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA) concluded the Tridarma International Visit & Academic (Batch 6) with a highly meaningful community service activity. As part of the ASEANACA International Conference (6th ICOSTELM 2026), the FISIP UNIDA delegation directly engaged in empowering the Indonesian Migrant Association in Kuala Lumpur.

This International Community Service activity was held at Rich Talent International College. The FISIP UNIDA faculty delegation, including Faisal Tri Ramdani, S.Sos., M.A.P., delivered intensive training in public administration, cross-cultural organizational management, and adaptation strategies in multicultural environments, all specifically designed to address the practical needs of Indonesian migrants.

The activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through expanded access to knowledge for vulnerable migrant groups, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the strengthening of work adaptation skills, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering diaspora communities.

Within the framework of the Key Performance Indicators (IKU), the program contributes to IKU 3 (Faculty Engagement Outside Campus), IKU 2 (Students Gaining Off-Campus Experience), and IKU 5 (Faculty Work Utilized by Society). FISIP UNIDA demonstrates that social sciences can generate direct impact on community welfare across national borders.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Djuanda, Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, Dra., M.Si., emphasized that this community service represents the culmination of the Tridarma of Higher Education.

“This service to the Indonesian Migrant Association in Kuala Lumpur is a concrete manifestation of FISIP UNIDA’s commitment. Our delegation shared knowledge while also absorbing real-world experiences from the field. From organizational administration training to management strategies, we aim to empower our fellow Indonesians to be more resilient in facing challenges abroad,” said Dr. Rita Rahmawati.

In her second statement, Dr. Rita highlighted the added value of this international community service.

“This activity enriches the perspectives of both lecturers and students regarding the application of social theories in a diaspora context. The experience will serve as a foundation for new research on migrant community social governance. Through international community service, we demonstrate that FISIP UNIDA’s social sciences are relevant and impactful wherever they are applied,” she added.

Meanwhile, Faisal Tri Ramdani, S.Sos., M.A.P., a lecturer in the Public Administration Study Program at FISIP UNIDA and a member of the service delegation, shared his firsthand experience.

“Witnessing the enthusiasm of Indonesian migrant communities eager for practical knowledge was truly inspiring. We introduced public administration concepts that can be applied to build effective community structures, communication strategies with local authorities, and basic understanding of legal protection for migrant workers. This experience enriches our curriculum and strengthens our understanding of public service in an international context,” Faisal explained.

This international community service activity served as a highly meaningful conclusion to UNIDA’s academic visit to Malaysia, leaving a positive legacy for bilateral relations and the strengthening of Indonesian diaspora communities.
