To welcome the holy month of Ramadhan, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Djuanda University (Unida) once again held its Ramadhan Lecture (Kurma) and Talks on Piety (Onta) on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Unida Library's BYC Hall.

The Ramadhan Lecture (Kurma) and Talks on Piety (Onta) are a regular program held during the holy month of Ramadhan by the FISIP Unida academic community, with lecturers, faculty staff, and students all taking part in the event.

For the first session this year, FISIP Unida featured the theme "Building a Civil Society: The Role of Public Administration and Communication Science in an Islamic Perspective."

The Dean of FISIP Unida, Rita Rahmawati, stated that it is essential for the academic community to be able to understand and integrate the teachings of the Qur'an into their studies.

"We hope that the knowledge shared by the speakers can guide us on how to integrate the studies of Public Administration and Communication Science with the knowledge within the Qur'an," she explained.

This year marks the third time the Kurma and Onta series has been held, featuring four FISIP Unida lecturers as special speakers. These four speakers shared insights on the role of Public Administration and Communication Science in a civil society from various perspectives.

One speaker, Saepudin, presented from a Public Administration perspective, linking it to the era of the Prophet Muhammad. He stated that religion is the primary foundation and the government has a duty to protect it.

Meanwhile, other speakers presented from different administrative and communication viewpoints. Raden Ahmad Munjin conveyed that attitudes of honesty, trustworthiness, and transcendental truth must be emphasized in every state official for the betterment of the nation. Next, Dede Syahrudin explained the definition of a civil society, and the session was concluded by Robby Firliandoko, the final speaker, who stressed the importance of being aware of one's role as a khalifah (steward on Earth) in order to always care for the planet we inhabit.

Finally, the speakers motivated the students to always act as agents of change, to combat all wrongdoing that occurs, and to always contribute using the potential they possess.
