The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA) continues to strengthen its global engagement by organizing an international conference titled the Social, Political, and Humanities International Conference (SPHIRIC) 2026. This international conference will be held online (virtual conference) on 29–30 April 2026 and is open to academics, researchers, practitioners, and students from various countries.
SPHIRIC 2026 carries the theme “Social and Political Transformations for Sustainable Development,” highlighting the importance of social, political, and humanities transformations in addressing the challenges of sustainable development amid dynamic global changes. The forum is designed as a cross-disciplinary academic dialogue to enrich scholarly perspectives while encouraging tangible contributions to public policy formulation.
The Dean of FISIP UNIDA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, Dra., M.Si, as Chair of the Committee, emphasized that the organization of SPHIRIC 2026 is part of FISIP UNIDA’s commitment to expanding international academic networks oriented toward real contributions and meaningful impact on the development of knowledge and sustainable development.
“SPHIRIC 2026 is designed as an international academic forum that encourages the exchange of critical and solution-oriented ideas related to social and political transformations. This conference is expected to contribute relevant insights to sustainable development at both national and global levels,” she stated.
According to her, the involvement of academics from various countries brings diverse scholarly perspectives, research experiences, and different social and political contexts. Such international collaboration is considered capable of enriching academic discourse, expanding cooperation networks, and fostering innovative ideas relevant to sustainable development challenges across the world.
“We open the widest possible opportunities for collaboration for researchers, lecturers, partners, and students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to share research findings and strategic ideas that can address societal challenges,” she added.
The conference will open with a welcome speech by the Chancellor of UNIDA, Prof. Dr. H. Martin Rosetamy, S.H., M.H, and a keynote address by the Rector of UNIDA, Prof. Dr. Hj. R. Siti Pupu Fauziah, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I.
A number of internationally reputed academics will participate as speakers, including Prof. Seung Hwan Myeong, Ph.D from Inha University, South Korea; Dr. Puvaneswaran Kunasekaran from Universiti Putra Malaysia; Prof. Tomoyasu Sano, Ph.D from Sapporo Gakuin University, Japan; Prof. Lubna Zaheer, Ph.D from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozita Arshad from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Various strategic issues will be discussed at SPHIRIC 2026, including public administration with a focus on digital governance and public sector innovation, as well as communication studies examining media literacy and digital communication for sustainable development. In addition, the conference will also address sociological and cultural studies, along with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches covering policy transformation, geopolitics, global governance, and the future of civil society.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, Dra., M.Si added that the committee has opened the Call for Papers with key schedules as follows: early bird registration until 20 February 2026, abstract submission deadline on 2 March 2026, abstract acceptance announcement on 16 March 2026, and full paper submission deadline on 31 March 2026. The conference itself will be held on 29–30 April 2026.
Selected papers will have the opportunity to be published in ISBN-indexed international proceedings, national journals accredited by SINTA levels 1 to 6, as well as Scopus-indexed book chapters, in accordance with the policies of each publisher.
