The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Djuanda University (UNIDA) held a Scientific Article and Academic Book Writing Training on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Classroom F.303, FISIP Djuanda University. The event featured Dr. Junaidi Awang Besar from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as the keynote speaker.
The training was attended by lecturers, master’s students, and members of the FISIP UNIDA academic community as part of efforts to enhance academic competencies, particularly in producing high-quality scientific publications with international competitiveness.
Dean of FISIP UNIDA, Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, expressed her appreciation for the implementation of the training program in her opening remarks. She emphasized that the ability to write scientific articles and academic books has become an essential competency for both students and lecturers amid the increasingly competitive academic landscape.
“This activity is a strategic step toward strengthening the culture of academic literacy within FISIP Djuanda University. We hope that both students and lecturers will be able to produce scientific works that not only meet academic standards, but also provide meaningful contributions to society and the advancement of knowledge,” said the Dean of FISIP Djuanda University.
Meanwhile, during his presentation, Dr. Junaidi Awang Besar explained that scientific articles and academic books play important roles in the development and dissemination of knowledge. He emphasized that both forms of academic writing must prioritize factual accuracy, clarity of arguments, and support from credible references.
“Scientific writing is not merely about conveying information, but also about building an academic tradition based on honesty, accuracy, and scholarly responsibility,” said Dr. Junaidi.
Dr. Junaidi Awang Besar also explained that scientific writing tends to be formal and specialized, while academic books are more flexible in reaching broader audiences. According to him, systematic organization of content helps readers gain a deeper understanding of a topic.
In the closing session of his presentation, Dr. Junaidi emphasized the importance of writing ethics, including academic honesty and proper citation of references as fundamental principles in academia.
“Overall, scientific articles and academic books complement one another in the effort to uphold the dignity of knowledge and education,” he concluded.
