The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Djuanda University (UNIDA) organized the Kurma & Onta (Ramadan Lecture and Faith Talk) program on Friday, February 27, 2026, coinciding with 9 Ramadan 1447 H. The event took place at the BYC Library UNIDA and was also broadcast live via the Commap TV YouTube Channel.
The first Kurma & Onta session featured speakers from FISIP UNIDA lecturers: Koesworo Setiawan, S.Sos., M.I.K., with the topic “Communication Ethics in Islam in the Digital Era”; Irma Purnamasari, S.Sos., M.Si., with “Social Justice in Public Policy from an Islamic Perspective”; Anisa Cikal Febrianti, S.I.Kom., M.A.P., with “Storytelling as Persuasive Communication in Da’wah”; and Acep Muhamad Rusman, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., with “Information Honesty in the Digital Era.” The discussion was moderated by Nadia Amalia, S.I.Kom., M.A.P.
The Dean of FISIP UNIDA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, Dra., M.Si., in her remarks, stated that Kurma & Onta was organized as a productive and meaningful activity during the holy month of Ramadan. According to her, Ramadan is not merely a time to abstain from food and drink, but also an opportunity to strengthen character, deepen knowledge, and enhance personal quality as members of the academic community.
“Through this program, we invite students to make every moment a field of good deeds. Fasting should not only be practiced physically, but also by strengthening integrity, broadening insight, and nurturing spiritual awareness. Hopefully, what we do today will be recorded by Allah SWT as an act of worship,” she said.
She added that character building and scientific development must go hand in hand, so that students excel not only academically but also possess strong moral and spiritual foundations.
The event proceeded interactively through discussion and Q&A sessions, with participants actively raising questions that connected the materials to phenomena in digital communication, public policy, and da’wah practices on social media.
Through Kurma & Onta, FISIP UNIDA hopes to continue providing enlightening and relevant dialogue spaces while strengthening students’ character as communicators and policy analysts who are ethical, full of integrity, and grounded in tawheed.
