The peak of the Harmonia Art Fest (HAF) 2025/2026 series, organized by students of the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA), was officially opened through a Visual Literacy Seminar titled “Representation of Meaning and Its Impact on Student Practitioners and Professionals” on Monday, January 20, 2026, at the Auditorium of Building C, UNIDA.
Harmonia Art Fest was held in commemoration of Mother’s Day, which falls on December 22, 2025. The series of activities began with a poster competition participated in by senior high school and vocational school students (SMA/SMK) from various schools.
The Chairperson of the Harmonia Art Fest Organizing Committee, Dheya Pratami, explained that HAF 2025/2026 carried the theme “Harmony of Unspoken Feelings,” representing a mother’s feelings that are often left unexpressed. This activity is also part of project-based learning for the Visual Communication course.
“We chose this theme to depict a mother’s feelings that are often unspoken. In every step and process we go through, there is always a mother’s prayer that accompanies us,” she said.
The lecturer of the Visual Communication course and Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs of FISIP UNIDA, Maria Fitriah, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed her appreciation to the entire committee for the successful organization of the event.
“A mother plays a very important role in our lives. Without a mother’s love, we would not be who we are today. This is not merely the meaning of a poster, but how visuals can convey communicative messages, whether as social criticism or emotional expression,” she stated.
She added that the creative process is a valuable learning experience in life.
“Every step we take is an engraving in our life journey. Let us take part in this activity with full meaning, and may it bring benefits to us all,” she added.
In line with this, the Secretary of the Communication Science Study Program, Koesworo Setiawan, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., emphasized the importance of understanding visual communication in today’s era.
“The power of visuals has a tremendous influence. It requires understanding not only to see, but also to interpret visual communication. Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will gain deeper knowledge of visual literacy,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP UNIDA, Dr. Hj. Rita Rahmawati, M.Si., in her remarks stated that the overarching theme of Harmonia Art Fest invites participants to reflect on the emotional relationship between children and mothers, which is often difficult to express in words.
“Through poster design, we are invited to remember the services of mothers. A mother’s affection often appears in simple things, even through advice and admonition. Today also marks the closing of the Harmonia Art Fest competition, which was participated in by 67 participants, along with the announcement of the winners,” she said.
During the seminar session, the speaker Syaeful Bahri, CEO of Candramawa Digital, delivered material on Visual Literacy in the Era of Social Media. He emphasized the importance of wisdom in producing and distributing digital content.
“Content on social media must be created wisely because it will shape character in the future. In the era of artificial intelligence, the target audience is not only humans, but also systems,” he explained.
He added that having clear objectives in content creation will produce maximum impact.
“Our mindset needs to change—no longer merely liking or disliking content, but understanding it or not. Visual literacy must continue to be trained so that we become digitally literate individuals,” he added.
As the closing of the series of activities, the winners of the Harmonia Art Fest 2025/2026 poster competition were announced.
