Welcoming Unida's 36th Anniversary; FISIPKOM Educates the Public Regarding the Utilization of Metaverse Technology for Public Service Communication

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Computer Science (FISIPKOM) of Djuanda University (Unida) collaborated with PT Bonet Utama to hold a digital literacy webinar on the use of metaverse technology in public service communication. The digital literacy webinar activity held on Saturday (18/3/2023) was to educate the public regarding technological developments and also to welcome Unida's 36th Anniversary which is celebrated every March 21. The Dean of FISIPKOM Unida said that the purpose of holding this digital literacy was to prepare the next generation to welcome a future that is very closely related to technology. "This webinar is a series of Unida's 36th Anniversary. We also hope that the younger generation can get this opportunity very well because today's students will become leaders when Indonesia is golden in 2045," said the Dean of Fisipkom Unida. Dean Ginung also added that the digital literacy webinar held with PT Bonet Utama was the result of collaboration between three study programs in FISIPKOM, namely Public Administration, Computer Science and Communication Science, therefore carrying the theme of Utilizing Metaverse Technology in Public Service Communication. Representing the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia Johnny G Plate, Coordinator of Digital Pandu Kemkominfo Bambang Tri Santoso who also attended the digital literacy webinar said that his party is very focused on the digital literacy movement program because it aims to improve the cognitive abilities of human resources to be more skilled and not only able to operate devices. "People need to understand how to utilize technology in a smart, creative and productive way. We also hope that technology can be utilized for the community's economy. The 4 pillars of digital literacy that need to be conveyed to the community are Digital Skills, Digital Culture, Digital Ethics and Digital Safety," he explained. On the same occasion, CEO of PT Bonet Utama Michael Sunggiardi explained that people who are consumers of technology products must have a concentration on technological advances in the next four to five years. In the progress of artificial intelligence (AI) development, there is currently a competition between Google and Microsoft. "My research on AI is still continuing. Which one will be the winner in public service communication, whether Google or Microsoft, although China turns out to be more advanced than America and Europe because it can adapt and develop," he said. Also present as resource persons from FISIPKOM Unida were Head of the Public Administration Study Program Faisal Tri Ramdani, Head of the Computer Science Lab Ma'shum Abdul Jabbar and Communication Science Lecturer Koesworo Setiawan who explained about good practices in utilizing technology in conducting public service communication.
